About Mr. Taylor
"A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history." - Mohandas Ghandi
My name is Jesse Taylor and this is my Fourth year teaching History at Buena High School. I grew up in Ventura County and attended Elementary, Middle, and High School in Ventura. I graduated from Buena High School and went on to study History at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. After graduating from Point Loma, I went on to earn my Teaching Credential from CSU Channel Islands. During my career in education I have tutored students in grades K-12, primarily through the AVID program in Ventura Unified. In addition, I was a subsitute teacher for the Ventura Unified School district before starting the Credential Program at CSUCI. I also taught for one year at a private High School in Oxnard, Calvary Christian School, teaching both Middle and High School Classes. Last, I spent the last year teaching 10th grade World History and 11th grade U.S. History. I am very excited once again to be teaching at Buena and look forward to getting to know all of my new students this year!
As for my family, I am very fortunate to have most of them here in Ventura. I have bee married to my beautiful wife Lisa for 6 years. I have a 3 1/2 year-old son named Jackson and a 1 1/2 year old daughter named Ella. I have only one brother who works as an EMT in Ventura and my mom is a teacher in Ventura as well, the famous Mrs. Taylor from Anacapa Middle School.
For hobbies, I love playing music (drums, guitar, or anything else that makes a cool sound!), watching football (GO CHARGERS!!!), Surfing, Snowboarding, Sailing, Tennis, Golf, Biking, watching movies, and reading. My favorite movies are Braveheart (action), Hot Fuzz (Comedy), and Cinderella Man (Drama). My favorite author at this moment is Robert Ludlum (author of the Bourne Series). My favorite style of music is Classic Rock, but I am really a fan of any type of music (except Country).
I am very excited for this school year and I look forward to meeting all of my new students!
