Course Description: Economics is a one semester College Prep course designed to cover the California Economic Standards in a way that is accessible for all students. Students will understand common economic terms and concepts and economic reasoning. Students will analyze the elements of the U.S. market economy in a global setting, the influence of the U.S. government on the American economy and the elements of the U.S. labor market. Students will study issues of international trade, and explain how the U.S. economy affects and is affected by economic forces beyond its borders. The goal of this class is not only to increase your understanding of Economics, but also to help you develop your skills in writing and critical thinking. Throughout the course of this class we will continually study not only how our economy works, but how it applies to students lives. We will also focus on how to interpret data, predict outcomes, and determine factors that can affect our economy.
